KnoVelo ("the Service") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. The Service is provided as a cloud-based web application and Chrome extension, and user data is managed with appropriate security measures.
This policy explains what information we collect and how we use and protect it.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information:
- Google Account Information: Email address, display name, profile picture (obtained through Google authentication)
- Saved Page Data: URLs, page titles, page content, AI-generated summaries and tags of web pages you save
- Usage Logs: Service usage information (search history, access times, feature usage, etc.)
3. Data Storage
User data is stored on Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore). All data transmission is encrypted via HTTPS (SSL/TLS).
Stored data is linked to your Google account and cannot be accessed by other users.
4. Third-Party Services & Cookies
We use the following third-party services for analytics and advertising. These services use cookies to collect information, but do not include personally identifiable information.
- Google Analytics: Access analytics
- Google AdSense: Advertising
- Stripe: Payment processing
Important: To provide AI features, we send the content of web pages you save to the Google Gemini AI API.
This data is used for:
- Automatic page summarization
- Automatic category tagging
- AI chatbot (Thoth) search and Q&A

5. Advertising
We may display advertisements through Google AdSense. AdSense may use cookies to show interest-based advertising.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings or opt out of personalized ads through Google Ads Settings.
6. Payments
We use Stripe for paid plan payments and offer Ko-fi for support.
Payment information such as credit card details is not stored on our servers and is securely managed by each payment service (Stripe, Ko-fi).
7. Chrome Extension
The KnoVelo Chrome extension collects the following data:
- URL of the currently viewed web page
- Page title and main content (only when you click the save button)
- User authentication status
The extension only collects and transmits data when you explicitly perform a save action. No automatic background data collection occurs.
8. Security
We implement the following security measures:
- Data access control via Firebase Security Rules
- HTTPS (SSL/TLS) encrypted communications
- Secure login via Google authentication
However, we cannot guarantee complete security over the internet.
9. Disclaimer
We are not responsible for:
- Accuracy of AI-generated summaries, tags, or search results
- Outages or changes to external services (Firebase, Gemini API, AdSense, etc.)
- Data loss due to user error or device failure
- Unauthorized third-party access
10. GDPR and International Data Protection
Residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) and UK have the following rights under GDPR:
- Right to access, rectify, and delete data (right to be forgotten)
- Right to restrict processing and object
- Right to data portability
- Right to withdraw consent

11. Children's Privacy
This Service is not intended for use by children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). If we learn that a child has used the service without parental consent, we will promptly delete their data.

This policy may be updated without notice due to changes in laws or service content. We will notify you of significant changes within the service.
Updated policies take effect upon posting on this page.
